Lace Aloe

 

The Lace Aloe is a very unique looking spiked succulent plant related to the Aloe Vera plant. It’s fleshy leaves clumb together are covered in white spikes. They are perfect plant for the beginner. Being a succulent they do not need much water and are hardy to fluctuating tempretures.

The Lace Aloe produces pups - much like a spider plant. These young Lace Aloe plants form at the base of the mother plant and can be pruned off and grown into large plants themselves.

Like it’s cousin the Aloe Vera, the sap can be used as a salve and balm to treat burns.

  • Native to South Africa

Size:

  • Reaches up to 12 inches (30cm) in height within 5 to 10 years.

Flowering:

  • The plant produces long stalk like flowers that are red or orange in colour.

Lifespan

  • With the right care this plant can live up to 50 to 100 years.

Toxicity

  • This plant is not poisonous to humans and pets if ingested.

Care Guide:

  • Light: Lace Aloe plants prefer bright direct light and full sun. A South facing room with a large window is best.

    They will thrive under artificial ights (if they are placed minimum 30 inches above it.)

  • Water: This plant prefers dry soil and it stores most of it’s water in it’s leaves. Once a month in the winter months and once every three weeks in the warmer months is best.

    As a rule of thumb water 20ml per 10cm of pot for this plant.

    This plant will handle British unfiltered tap water.

  • Humidity: This plant does best in low humidity 30% - 50% RH is ideal.

  • Temperature: This plant prefers high heat. 20c - 32c is ideal. Do not place the plant in near open windows in the Winter or autumn.
