Golden Pothos
The Golden Pothos is a quick grower, always sprouting new leaves and trails quickly. Its green leaves with yellow splashes can surely brighten up any corner in your home. The Golden Pothos is also known as the Devil's Ivy.
It looks great as a hanging plant but equally as good as trail. The young plants, leaves are oval, heart-shaped at the base, and glossy bright green, spotted and streaked with cream or yellow. Mature plants have deeply lobed leaves that can reach up to 90cm long.
Country of Origin:
Native to French Polynesia but has also become naturalised in tropical and sub tropical rainforests throughout the world.
Size:
Reaches up to 96 inches (270cm) in height and width and its trails can reach 480 inches (1,219cm) long in 5 - 10 years.
Flowering:
It is very rare for the Golden Pathos to flower as an indoor plant. However in the wild it produces a number of erect flower stalks together, each with a cream spathe marked with purple surrounding the spadix.
Lifespan
With the right care this plant can live between 5 - 10 years.
Toxicity
This plant is poisonous to humans and pets if ingested.
Care Guide:
Light: Golden Pothos work well in bright but indirect light. They also work well in low light and shade, making them a great addition to many parts of the house.
Water: Water the plant only when the top two inches are dry. Generally once every 7 to 10 days in the spring and summer and every 2 to 3 weeks in the autumn and winter.
As a rule of thumb water 50ml per 10cm of pot for this plant though water slightly more if the plant is in a bright spot.
This plant will handle British unfiltered tap water.
Humidity: This plant does best in moderate humidity 40% - 60% RH is ideal.
Temperature: This plant prefers moderate heat. 15c - 29c is ideal. Do not place the plant in near open windows in the Winter or autumn.
