Aglaonema
Aglaonemas come in a variety of shapes and colours. From the lush greens and calming yellows to the striking red and pink varieties; It’s easy to care for and makes an imact in whichever space they call home. These are low maintenance and highly attractive. They grow quickly with the right care and is a favourite among indoor plant enthusiasts.
Sometimes called the “Chinese Evergreen" One of the main reasons for the popularity of Aglaonema as houseplants is their ability to purify the air, making them excellent choices for improving indoor air quality.
Country of Origin:
Native to China, but now found throughout the rainforests of Thailand, Vietman and Cambodia.
Size:
Reaches up to 24 inches (60cm) in height and width in 2 - 5 years.
Flowering:
Cob, white flowers which appear from early summer to early autumn.
Lifespan
With the right care this plant can live for over 10 years.
Toxicity
This plant is poisonous to humans and pets if ingested.
Care Guide:
Light: This plant does not enjoy direct sunlight. Placing it in a North or East facing window is best.
The plant will also thrive under artificial and grow lights (if they are placed minimum 42 inches above it) making it great for office spaces.
Water: Aglaos like a good drink and you should water thoroughly each time. Only water however when the top inch or two of the soil is dry to the touch.
This plant will handle British unfiltered tap water.
Humidity: This plant does best in high humidity 60% - 70% RH is ideal.
Temperature: 18c - 27c is ideal. The plant can tolerate temperatures as low as 10c but avoid placing it near any cold draughts.
